Stiff Clutch Pedal

Hi all

Recently bought a second hand corolla terra vvti 2002. 70k on the clock and fsh from toyota, bought from a friend who runs a garage I trust with all my cars. One thing Im noticing, given ive driven my old mans corolla 04 35k and other toyotas with less mileage their clutches are light and effortless.

My clutch pedal itself is quite stiff to push. Now your normal checks like high revs and releasing etc work fine, no skipping/power loss from it on the road, no problem at all in gear selection. Bite points where it should be too. Just stiff? Theres a bearly audable squeek/noise when pressing the pedal but I really dont think this is a master flywheel problem.

Just curious are these corollas running on a clutch cable that might be catching or fluid that might need changing? Definately becoming annoying if driving for more then half an hour!

Reading in the owners manual that the clutch fluid should be inspected every service. Just wondering could this be the cause of the stiffness? Its due a toyota service soon
