hey all,

been visiting the forum the last few days, as I'm about to sell off my Yaris and upgrade to a graphite Auris (Corolla here in oz). Figured I might as well join up :D

Now, it's just going to be a base model version, and naturally I want to make a few improvements. The pictures I've seen around here have proven great inspiration ;)

New rims will be a priority; also wanna lower it and add a spoiler.

Just wondering if anyone could fill me in on the prices involved for ordering TTE parts?? I definitely wanna order the rear spoiler and probably the lowering springs as well. Also the silencer looks great, would love to get one of them. But I'm only 19 and don't exactly have unlimited amounts of money.

Any help much appreciated, cheers guys

P.S. any other suggestions, particularly cheap ones, are very welcome

Hi and welcome to TOC. You can PM Kingo for prices. As for the silencer - it's pretty darn expensive - I've seen it online for about 600 euro I believe and the spoiler was over 300  As you can see, these "improvements" are very expensive. I'd suggest you get a not-so-base model instead - dual zone full automatic AC is a MUST in my opinion! Wouldn't sacrifice it for rims or wings, or silencer, or... anything!

Cheers,

Svet

Welcome on TOC man!

Yes, Svet is right, Toyota accessories are very expensive and I heard from JVN-11L who is from Aurstralia too, that delivery prices are very high, they can be

higher than the part itself. He also told me that Aurstralian Toyota dealers aren't selling those parts, so the only way is to order them straight from TTE!

I suggest you to use some other parts, it will be more difficult and not so PlugAndPlay, but your car will look surely different and cool, and you'll have more money left in your pocket... Start from some rims which you like, it's all about your taste and money you have. Then the silecer, Toyota's is more for the look I think, buy something for the sound improvement too. Choose something you like, some cheap and universal, but nice-looking. Check that the lenght is good, don't care about mounting yet as it can be done just by welding the silencer's pipe to the mid pipe and then secured with some metal wire to the car's holes which are made to hold the silencer so it won't leave hanging. Air filter is great and cheap too, just buy some dry filter which doesn't need to be oiled, it will give you a nice sporty sound on accelerations. There are many lowering springs for Auris on the market, don't buy Toyota's. They're very expensive but not lowering the car nearly at all. I have H&R springs, they're cheaper than TTE but I'm happy with them.

Don't spend your money on buying full-auto AC, I think that it's not very useful. I have it and keep it all the time in manual mode as otherwise it's keeping pretty loud noise. I usually also keep the temperature same on both sides. In my opinion if you have manual AC, it's fairly enough. (Sorry Svet, just told my opinion :)).

The most good-looking and worth changing/updating parts are in my opinion: Rims, Lowering, Window tinting, HIDs, Exhaust and Air filter. By doing these mods your car will get a whole new look for a reasonable price. There's also one special part which I would like to add to the list, it's special part on that list, and it's there only if we're talking about Auris! And that part iiiis..... REAR SPOILER!! It's worth spending some money as it looks so good. Of course you can always install some original spoiler, but it won't look as good as the one from TTE. If you put some universal exhaust, it can look even better than the one from TTE, but I don't think that the same thing is possible with the spoiler :D And for the universal spoiler you'll probably have to drill some extra holes to make the installation etc... Which is not good. So I suggest you to order the spoiler from TTE, it's worth it, definitely.

Best regards, Alex

Oh, it's totally understandable Alex... You live in Finland and it's not a secret you guys don't even need fridges there :P (just kidding man, but correct me if I'm wrong - didn't a country mate of yours recently say it was -40 degrees C in Northern Finland ;) ) Remember this guy lives in Australia and it gets pretty hot there ;) And I always drive in Auto mode and haven't noticed the AC to be noisy. Except that, having dual zone AC is HUUUUUUGE, man! I can't imagine living without it ever again! In the winter my wife is always cold so I have to turn the heater up (and I can't stand heat)... In the summer it doesn't get any better :P - if she's cold, I have to turn AC off (and did I mention I can't stand heat? :help::lol: ) Well, problem's now solved FOR GOOD! :D She's got her temperature, I've got mine! Yaaaay!

Cheers guys ;)

Yes it's true, not a single fridge here, we just put everything outside the house :D And we often have problems with electricity as the reindeers damage the cables. We have so much snow that they can reach to the cables  Yea I know it's hot in Australia, and you're right, it's cold in Finland. I'm lucky that it's not 40 degrees in southern Finland, max. was -12 degrees this winter (it lasted for couple of days), and they're promising something like that for this weekend too. Usually it's around 0 degrees. But when it's cold AC is very useful too. It gets the car warm fast and keeps the windows clear.

But I think that even if it's hot you can just put your manual to blow harder and put it to the coldest, it will work as it should. My problem is that I don't like noise, so I hate when the outside air is very hot or very cold and my auto AC goes on in auto mode. It sound like there is some kind of storm in my car  Such a noise... ARGH!

Don't know anything about that as I don't have a wife. My Auris = My only woman :lol:

Cheers :D

Cheers for the help guys.

Yeah new rims will be number one priority, I'm thinking some 8-spoke 17" chromes would look pretty mint. Window tinting will get done pretty much straight away also.

And alexC I agree that a spoiler is an absolute must. I'm disappointed it is so expensive because it improves the look of car by double. Might have to find a 2nd job for that one!

Not surprised the silencer is expensive, but thought it was worth mentioning. Think I'll just lower it and add a decent exhaust on instead :P

Yeah Im sure you'll have a local custom exhaust place who could make the exact exhaust you want for a lot less money than Toyota want! Get some pics up when you get it mate :)
