Avensis 1.8 Auto

Hi,

This is my first post in this section as I've just become the proud owner of a 05reg auto,one owner,saloon.

Although I'm generally pleased with it I am quite surprised that there are various rattles from the dashboard,drivers door,

even the drivers seat creaks.... :(

Is this typical of the overall build quality of these cars?

Has anybody here had rattley dashboards and been succesfull in curing it?

Again,I'm surprised to see so many issues about these cars on this forum,if you were to believe the taxi drivers in my area they are totally bomb proof!!...?

Hi Phil

The thing to remember is when people do have a problem they turn here for help, this gives a false impression for anyone browsing here. As you say Toyota cars are more reliable and long lasting than most.

The Avensis you have I understand was prone to rattles on the dashboard and I think Toyota have a kit to address the problem, it may be worth a call to your local dealer to find out more on this.

hello

mine is also a bit rattle especially at cold driving.

but after heating up by climate this rattle disappears.

revband....I'll contact my local Toyota dealership about the availability of a kit,thanks.

Igor....Yes,I have noticed it is worse when cold,probably for the first couple of miles,thanks.

Just to mention the taxi,s again,I used one recently,petrol Avensis,that had 400,000 mls on the clock!!!

I can’t help with the rattles but the creaking seat - maybe?

I had to bring mine back to the garage as the seat noise was driving me mad. Turned out to be a really simple thing to fix – all that was needed was for the seat runners to be lubricated. Hope you seat noise is as easy to fix.
