Fazzer's Engine Rebuild

Hi all

A month ago I made the long trip from London to Chester to meet up with Fazzer (Steve) from this forum. I'd be spending so much money on oil for my Celica VVTi I was nearing the point of selling it. I dropped the car off on Friday at his place and spent the weekend exploring Chester by foot (in the cold!). Steve replaced the crank, piston, piston rings, head gasket, bearings, pumps and most importantly made the modification to the block so that the oil was allowed to re-circulate. Showed me the state of the parts and explained what had been done. Its now hit the 1000 mile mark since that rebuild and I'm happy to report that the car has not burnt a drop of oil. By this point, I'm usually making my monthly dash to Halfords for more oil!

Even more of a bonus was power is up everywhere in the power range and the car feels like new. I haven't done a proper fuel run but I'm using much less fuel per week than I use to and I'm still not being too gentle with the throttle.

It now just leaves me to sort out the exhaust/CAT system which looks like its taken some 30k miles of abuse from the oil burning!

If you have a Celica or other VVTi thats suffering, then I recommend you give Fazzer a call.

How much did it cost?

I take it thats the oil consumption problem that the early gen 7's have your talking about?

It all depends on what is found on the stripdown and current prices for replacement parts(ebay, toyota dealers etc)

In the grand scheme of things, costs wasn't too bad. Cars up for a respray next which will hurt even more on my wallet!!!

Yep its the oil consumption problem that blighted the early gen 7's.
