Does My Lovely New Anti-dirty Dog Mat Fit Under The Back Seats?

Hey all :)

I have fitted my s****y rubber floor mat (supplied by the ever patient and good humoured Kingo) in the back of my 4.2 XT4 (crikey, haven't I learned a lot from you kindly souls). At present I have it propped up against the back of the seats. Can I lift the rear seats, fit it then put the seats back down on top of it? Or do the seats have to be folded when I use it?

Fankoo in advance - apart from you bothy; 'cos you're going to tell me either (i) I've got too many doors, (ii) Get the dog a wet suit, or (iii) Hitch him to the tow bar and run him along the outside! :P

I jist cannot believe you paid money to fit rubber mats to fit against the back of yer seats....????!!!!

Thocht ye wur mair sensibil.

fek the doors; dugs dinna need wet suits - jist pampers; and towing it behind oan the towbar will incur the wrath o the Animal Richts Protesters all o whom live in sewers in London.

Whit dya think Toyota invented the Roof Rack fur? Suitcases?

Naw.

Dugs!

Collar tethered front an back an it'll be fine - nae sweat/overheating in ra car/etc and plenty o fresh air - jist whit they need. It'll keep the kids amused whit are also tethered up oan the Roof Rack!!

I never covered the Roof Rack angle! :hammer: He's only a wee thing, the dog that is, the child has long gone thank goodness! I just don't want to get my shiney new toy clarty!

It still hasn't solved my question though - I suppose I'll just have to brace me'sen against the cold and have a go! (I know, I haven't seen cold 'til I've been up to the wild and woolys, but I've lived down here 25 years now - and turned soft). Just wondering if the seats go back down on top of the mat securely? Is that what the 'cut here bits are for - the anchor points?

Where's my hero 'Clooney' Kingo when a girl needs him?

Coooey...........George C here :ermm:

What's this Cruella.........You turned into a soft southern Nancy? :!Removed!:

This is the only picture I have

A_022eeae.jpg

It only shows your muddy boots Cruella, but I thought the liner would go up to the seats and not under them? Is there some sort of cut out to go around the seat base lock?

George, sorry Kingo

At present it seems to be going half way up the back of the seats, like it's longer than the rear part if you know what i mean? - I'll have a look at it and pm/mail you if i fail...

Ta George  ;)

I didn't have a real Toyota one in my 4.2 when I had it, but as I remember I slid the rear seats forward, let the mat

slide under and return the rear seat back to where it was. Saves trimming ;)

Cru, if the mat's like my other half's in her 4.2, it goes right under the rear seats, which fold forward to allow you access. Well worth it - our Golden Retriever loves his mat....

Thanks for that :)

Do the seats then fold back to fix into place? I haven't put our Border Terrorist in the back yet as I haven't taken him anywhere in it. I have to get a dog guard as he is only small, but a bit of a houdini and likes to sit under your feet - which is notthe best place to be when you're driving!

Well I went out today and put the seats forward, then fitted the mat over. It fits beautifully and all the little cut out holes correspond with the seat locking mechanisms. I am made up and more than a little excited! :D Thanks Kingo

Sadly our dog Ralph had to be put down this week. He was a beutiful border collie almost 15 years old. Very arthric and in constant pain. He used to sit in the front passenger well. Always threw up in the back of cars, hence his name. We are going to be looking to getting another dog soon. It would be interesting to see a picture of this mat if possible.

Really sorry to hear about your dog mate, we lost our cocker at that age + our westie is now 13, people without pets don't realise just how attached to them you become.. Still a new little pup in your lives will help you get over him, although of course you will never forget him.. deepest sympathy..Stew

Sorry to hear about Ralph  I really don't know why we do it, I mean, you get them, they steal your heart (and everything else that isn't out of reach in our house  ), sleep where the devil they like and totally take over - and you know that they are only around for a finite time, but it makes absolutley no difference does it? I also had two persian cats when I got the dog as a pup (he's 3 this year, my family breed Borders), but I had to have Slinkey, the older one put to sleep in July, he was 13 and very much the boss, but you just know when it's time don't you? The dog and Mr Fabulous, the remaining cat (who is 11), are very fond of each other, they sleep together and go down to the garden together :)

We've been thinking about getting another dog to play with Bodger, there's loads of great ones on both Dog's Trust website and Battersea at the moment. I'd love to get a rescue dog, but with having an indoors cat we will have to be careful in our choice. Failing that I am leaning towards a standard labradoodle! one of my Surveyors at work has two westies, proper characters, he also fosters for the westy rescue :)

I'll try and take a photo of the mat in situ tomorrow, weather permitting.

You say you will have to be carefull in your choice of dog Crue? Do we choose them or do they choose us? When we went to look at westie pups I got down on the floor to look at them, this one left the others walked up my body licked my nose, turned around + tried to pull my shoe off, Me + Toby have been best mates ever since..:wub:

They do - don't they? :)

Bodger is absolutely fab! The only thing I meant was when you have other animals such as cats you don't want to come back to find you are -1! :D

Most of the dogs that are the right size seem to be "unsuitable to live with cats" Of course, this would all be immaterial if Meldrew got out in that cab a bit more and purchased me that mansion in Kent - then I could be a truly mad old lady with a pack of rescue dogs and cats...

Any chance you might consider a 90 year old father/grandfather - going cheap.........?

If I get the mansion, he can come with my 85 year old Ma-in-law and 94 year old (but very sprightly) neighbour as a job lot! :) Mind you, at the rate Meldew works he might be 101 before he moves in! I saw my neighbour the other morning on the way back from the newsagents; "my you look well Philomena," I said, "it's all slap my dear," was the response! :lol2: I hope that if I get to that age I've got half her energy - in fact, I'd like to get to 46 and have half her energy... :)
