Starter Motor Location?

Parents have a 1.8 Avensis (99 reg), 7A-FE engine. The starter motor sounds as though it is not disengaging quickly once the engine has started. It's just that I cannot find it! Can someone describe to me where it is?

It's at the back of the engine low down.

Looking at the engine from the front of the car it's on the right.

There is one mounting bolt you can get to (because you can see it). The lower one is at the back of the motor.

Once you have the air filter box and duct out of the way it's not too bad.

But working from the engine bay that lower bolt is a 'fee' job and a stretch.

You will find it easier to remove the mounting bolts, move the motor to a position you can easily work on it, then disconnect the solenoid connection from this position.

As they say in the Haynes manuals, 'refitting is the opposite of removal'.
