Cts-ctr Again

After some long talks with friend and family, and some abusive member on TOC (he's not really abusive!) I hoping to get a CTS by next week, pending my car gets sold etc etc....

.... so just wondering how much time and money needs to be spent on the CTS to get it either on par or faster than a CTR as my friend just recently bought a CTR and i would not like it if he out runs me everytime on the airfield! (Martin Airfield for anyone in lincolnshire than fancies coming down some time)

But yeah I'm happy with the A/F upgrade I think Typhoon is the way forward (although a certain Apexi person might say otherwise) and a full custom exhaust system 2.5" should be ample, right?

Dont think those mods would get enough power to beat your mates ctr im affraid dude. Your talking big bucks to beats one of those your best option is to find a cheap compressor youd kick his ***** everyday then :D

Agreed, if the CTS gets up to 200BHP you will be about the same, if however your mate puts an exhaust and AF on the CTR you will be having to get new cams etc etc to get the additional 20 BHP to be in front again will cost 2k, that 2k would be better spent on a compressor.

hm i think that with CAI, Header, Exhaust you would be well above 200bhp at the fly..which should be enough to pull level to at least 70mph and then probably not losing much after that at all...

grab things like PFC, stg 2 cams etc and you would probably be beating him if he weas stock.

Hmmm this aint looking too great... he had his on the rr today and got 258bhp!!!! he has an A/M a/f and it is re-mapped and superchipped.... cant believe how much he has gained from so little

whats an A/M and A/F? 258 is pretty good but could also be a bit bullsh*&^ with an overly positive reading Dyno!

Well thats what I'm hoping it is, but as I have been a passenger in it, I would say it feels faster than a CTS, although 'not trying to sound big headed' I am a better driver than him!

58bhp is a massive gain for filter and chip. i call BS on that figure tbh.

maybe 5-10 for airfilter and another 5-10 for chip.

and thats best case scenario....

u must b aving a laugh..59 bhp from a filter n chip? my guess is if he indeed is running that bhp it cant b healthy for the car esp given its got no other mods..

truth is dere isnt alot between the 2 and with the right mods it shouldnt b to hard to edge infront.. just ask farhan lol jst get the basic right get the air in and out of the car as fast as possible.. lower the car to reduce drag

See I didnt think there was much between them! My understanding was they are pretty much side by side till about 80 mph then the CTR edges forward...

TTE springs are ok but they are re-badged Eibach's which are cheaper to buy! ;)

No way in hell that your mates ctr got 258bhp with those mods :D

My friends good friend has a ctr with 260bhp and almost all the parts has been changed and it's a rally car.

Top speed nearly 300km/h and the guy said that that's the most what you can get from n/a ctr.

With superchip you could get about 10bhp from ctr and with those mods 220-230bhp maybe.. tops..

Your friend should get it dynod somewhere else?

Get a compressor if you want to be faster. :)

Cts is quite fast but ctr is faster..

With 2,5" catback exhaust (all the way) you will probably lose more power than gain. If someone has facts that you can get more power by changing the exhaust in ts, let me know. Thanks. :)

For 258BHP what A/F is he using and which ECU has he put in because the standard ECU for them cars is not re-mappable

What Rollers has he used... ask him to go down to TDI north and use their rollers as they're quite accurate unlike alot of others.

whatever mods u do to yours if he does the same you aint going to ever beat him anyway so its a bit pointless if your buying the car on the idea your hoping to beat your mates car as you will just feel a bit p'd off all the time.

just get the tsport and he will be impressed by the fact it has a smaller engine and u can keep with him untill 70/80 , oh and that u will beat him in the wet due to TRC :)

I think I'm going for a CTS as its in a lower insurance group than the CTR and CTS-C.... I mean it would be nice to be faster than him, but I'm not going to buy a car on that merit, I believe the CTS to be a pretty solid car... and when I do come to modding it I'll keep it quiet from him n hopefully he will keep his as it is atm...

... i couldnt believe it when he told me it was 258bhp cos my mate has a Impreza WRC STi Estate and thats a 2.0 Turbo n he claimed it was faster than that....

i had a play with a type r recently, T-sport786 tell them about it??????? hardly nothing between the two and in all honesty i was pulling away that day...it was slightly wet and i know we have better traction. We did standing starts rolling starts the lot. Me and shaun often have a run around and i would say there is not much between us either but shauns car is fast (kangzy). When we first ever had a run it was quite close and shaun had his cat fitted and wasnt giving it his all. The other day i saw him giving a porsche boxster a nasty time. If you are looking to buy a t-sport so far i couldnt less recommend a good air filter to begin with.
