Hi All

im new to this club , as i am using a Toyota Carina AT 150 which is quite a old model , as there seems to be a issue with the radiator where as the water disappears thought there was a leak in the radiator but when i checked there seem to be no problem with it , as when i checked Engine oil is also discolored (colored White) , as i took the car to the techs they said there is a problem with the gaskets & need to be replaced so can someone help me out what what would be the best thing to do before getting my gaskets replaced is there anything that i should set up my concerns on ?

please if theres anyone who could guide me on what to do ? as for surely i might have to get my gaskets replaced but any other thing that should be vigilant on

The advice you have received is correct. If there is any evidence of white 'foaming' in your oil this indicates that coolant is getting into you engine oil. The gasket which has failed is the cylinder head gasket. It is not cheap. If there was any possibility that your engine may have overheated then the cylinder head may have warped slightly. If this is the case make sure that the garage arranges to skim the head which will remove a small amount of material from it to true the surface.

thanks a lot for the quick reply , :( seems like i will be having a hard time with the car , just wanted to know is there something called a " Water Jacket " where as the tech guy said it could be a fault in that as well so does the foaming still happen in engine oil ? Or this purely happens when there is a issue with the gaskets , seems like its a major repair :( is there any other thing to add while attending to this repair regarding performance wise ???

The head gasket itself doesn't cost that much. But since the head has to be remove to get the new gasket in place, it will cost you a lot in labour. Also, in addition to checking the head, check for any other possible reason for overheating, since overheating very likely could be the reason for the gasket leak

i mange to fix it , yes it was only the head which was rusted so had to replace it , :)
