Plastic Cover Under Engine

Was out this morning on the motorway and suddenly heard scraping noise under car. Stopped on the side quickly and saw a plastic cover under the engine had fallen down and was scraping the road. Nothing I could do at the time so proceeded cautiously and heard bang underneath, looks like cover has detached itself. Anyone know what this cover is? The car was serviced last week, could it be a sump guard or some sort?

sounds like the stone gaurd has come dislodged and you lost it could be when it was serviced it was not put back properly.

I would return to the vService workshop, and have it checked. If the guard had "fell off" then a serious accident could have ocurred, which would have been made you liable.
