Hi

Since Aug 08 i have been getting a whinning noise from front nearside, cv boot has been replaced, joint seems to be in good condition, and was re-greased when boot was changed. Noise still continues but not all the time. The car was taken to the garage and they changed the drive shaft and cv joint on the opposite side, any suggestions to what maybe causing the noise.

many thanks

hi there i had the exact same noise as you, i even changed my drive shaft, but the fault was not the drive shaft it was MY GEAR BOX!

if i was you i would quickly put gear box oil in the car!

also when you are at a high speed does the noise increase and makes a sound of a hammer banging on metal?

check your calipers are not sticking that was my problem, one of the caliper sliders was jammed making the pads screech against the disc.
