Fixing Window Seal / Condensation Problem

Hello,

I bought my Corolla a few months back and so far I've been very happy with it, but there is one niggling problem that I would love to get sorted. It's basically a condensation problem.

Often when my car has been standing for a few hours in a car park or outside my house, the windscreen, the rear boot window, or sometimes both will be covered in condensation. Other cars around it will be fine, with lovely clear windows! The result is I have to sit in my car until the windscreen clears, or sometimes I need to get the squeegee out to clear it. It's becoming a little annoying.

After reading other posts and web sites I understand that it's probably a damp/leak problem, so I've taken a look and feel around the car to see if there are any damp patches, but as far as I can tell there is no obvious leak or damp patch. It does feel like the car has an overall damp feel to when you get in, but that could just be my imagination.

In addition to checking for leaks, I've changed the pollen filter (which was very dirty), have the air conditioning and heat on while driving, and the switch is set to bring in fresh air from outside.

The only thing I can see that could be causing it is a slightly loose driver outside window seal, but again this could have no impact at all, I've no idea! If it could be causing excess condensation, what would be the best way to reseal it? Basically, it's not flush against the window. The photo doesn't show it particularly well, but it sticks up and out a half centimetre or so.

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully come summer time, it should become less of a problem anyway!

My Corolla is a 53 plate. Some pictures of the condensation, and the loose window seal below:

My dad bought this wax at Donny last year and it is fantastic stuff.

You rub it on, wipe it off and your windows/glass stay condensation free for a week or so.

He bought a few pots so I might be able to convince him to sell you a stick.

They are about 5-7cm long and each one will last about 6-8 months.

You wont find them online so you'll have to either find some at a motor show or I'll sell you some if I can.

Just PM me if you are interested.

 I do not think that an anti condensation wax is going to cure the problem.

Further investigation to find any leaks will be necessary........(You do say that the car feels damp)

Good luck with solving the problem

Thanks for the replies. I have seen that window wax stuff around, but I read a lot of people have problems with smearing, but maybe I should give it a go anyway.

Yeah, I suppose further investigation is in order, there just doesn't seem to be anywhere it could be getting in! All seals look fine, and there is never any water anywhere even after heavy rain. Oh well :)

Do you always drive with the aircon on?

This can cause windows to mist up when you stop.
