Just had third service (150quid including new front wiper) plus fixed/fixing a lot of stuff under warrenty (clutch, seat covers, headlamp water ingress)

HOWEVER

I have been told for the zillionith time that they are waiting on inventing a new part to fix glove box lid! (seriously how difficult can it be  )

I want to extract this thing out of my life, now I havent even looked at yet so apologies if it is obvious, but does it come off easily or can I just rip the effing thing off in my next temper tantrum?

Thanks in advance

I would prefer to rip it off

Yes H would do much better job, although he objects to using my pink fluffy screw drivers!

oh so it was obvious then

sorry for being so ignorant, but what's wrong with the glove box on the Aygo anyway ?

Is it some sort of inherent design flaw?

It keeps falling open Rich, there is hardly anything in it, so its not over loaded, so yeah I think its a design fault as quite a few have had this problem or just cheap materials, there has been rumours and stories of a new part coming to fix it but I am begining to think these are just urban legends of some sort.

Just looked at, shouldnt be too difficult even for a person with my limited talents

Whilst I was looking at and contemplating some home made fix (Other than masking taping it shut) the handle came off and I cant get it back on so now, why cant it just all fall off

Is it the same on the Citroen/Pug variants too?

Without having seen one, I can confidently say that I could sort out a permanent fix for this problem without much bother - it's a lid ( I modify/redesign much more complicated things for a living ! )

There are slighty different designs for the 107 lid thats available I think, dont think it has made much difference tho in the falling down issue.

I could take/post you some pics of it if you want to have a look at resdesign? Someone did mention to be before about using stereoclips to fix it but I went to go buy them and it just didnt seem right, or the concept was lost on me probably.

If we are successfull and can we email it to Toyota and charge them

Have a look at the online instalation manual. There is a clip that comes with the glove box. This clip fits into the hole for the latch to close the gap and ensure the latch has enough material behind it to stop it falling open. I used some self adhesive foam to fix my latch clearance.

I've got a pug one fitted, Had no problems at all, mind you did double check every thing lined up . Have not even fitted the strap thing to stop it opening too far.
