I decided to buy a new car and it was love at first sight when my eyes caught Aygo. I was surprised at how well it drives and how much space the driver has (i'm 6-6 so you can imagine :D ). Aygo will be ready by wednesday and after that I know I'm going to be a proud owner. The problem is this is going to be only my second car, the previous one was Renault Clio and it was second hand so I've never had a chance to have a new car by myself.

What worries me is the engine at start as I know i shouldn't go really hard on it and frankly I think i might be too paranoid about it but my Aygo won't feature the RPM meter and everybody keeps telling me: "just don't put it over 2k RPM for the first 1.5k miles and it should be fine". There's quite a trip comming up aswell as I'm going skiing in 2 weeks. The car won't have enough mileage for the first service so my question to you would be: Can i drive this trip of 300 miles to some ski resort where it's going to be about -10°C and the road to get there will feature some hills?

I know i'm being quite paranoid but i don't want to be torturing the engine going uphill in the second gear with some luggage in it and 2 passengers. Also I will be driving it every day there and I hope the cold weather won't be too much for the little Aygo as it's going to be brand new still by then.

Thanks in advance :)

Don't give it too many revs for extended periods of time, but ensure it gets regular workouts.

With no rev counter simply follow: 10 mph 1st, 20mph 2nd, 30mph 3rd 40mph 4th 50mph 5th and you won't go far wrong.

just use as normal, dont over rev and dont let it labour, you will no no when the engine is not happy at both situations

Or buy a SCANGAUGE II, take 30 seconds to get it out of the box and plug it in. You'll get a digital rev counter, air inlet temperature, coolant temperature, Battery voltage and much more.

Dont forget snow tyres. I went to Val D'isere and I saw an Aygo black with them on.

The 2009 Aygo uses 0W20 engine oil, so the oil gets to work quickly on cold starts

thanks a lot for the info, I just want to make sure to get there safe. Any other problems that might come up when i get back i'm sure Mr. T will take care of them :)

Just thrash the nuts off it after you have changed to a quality oil such as Mobil 1

It's the clutch that seems to be having more issues rather than the engine.
