My lovely x reg yaris has started jerking/juddering when i either have my foot steady on the accelerator or when im slowing down. feels as though it may stall but as of yet has not. also causing problems when exiting junctions as the car can suddenly ***** forward new driver styley!. Mostly happening in lower gears but has happened at motorway speeds. no lights coming on to show a problem so my local garage hasn't been able to help much as of yet! Any ideas greatly received.

Just out of interest has your car had the crank sensor recall?

I had something like this happen on my old Fiesta caused by a dodgy sparkplug, and a friend recently had a similar thing on his Polo caused by a dodgy HT lead (i.e. The wire connected to the sparkplug).

Normally though the toyota mangamnet systems throw the light on and blink detecting a miss fire.

Have you managed to sort this out? My totota starlet does the same, sometimes you can go for 20 miles and it doesnt do it but then again you might just go round the corner and it starts again. Just wondered if you had found out what the trouble was!!

'Fraid not! Me and the lil yaris are still hopping along together!! i managed nearly 3 weeks with nothing but she's up to her old tricks again! off for her MOT in a few weeks so i'll have her looked at again then. the engine management light did come on (ive never been so happy to see that light on) so i quickly called the garage but it went off the next day. Aagh!!! i shall keep you posted. likewise, i would appreciate if you manage to get to the bottom of it. cheers! i did go to the local toyota dealership who were rather unhelpful and asked if i had put the right fuel in!!

Could be the MAF sensor is at fault or just dirty.

Do a search on the forum. ;)
