Broken Seats

I put a thread on here a few months ago about my broken passenger seat... the handle under the front of the seat that when you pull it up it lets you slide the seat back and forward...

There are two little pins that are connected to the handle which when you pull the handle up the pins slide up inside a groove with a plastic insert , this realeases the springs one on each side of the seat and let the seat slide back and forward.

One of these pins has broken off both seats and front and passenger are now stuck .I am ready to hang myself,my Tsport is a 2005 facelift will be 4 years old start of April with 36k on the clock.

Both seats have broken out of warranty and Toyota Want £550 for two new seat units this dosent include labour. You have to buy the whole seat frame...

I have drove Toyota since my first Toyota Starlet back in 1987 and never had any problems like this before...this should not be happening.

This car is looked after like my childhood sweetheart and the seats are never abused or treated rough.

I have been speaking to a mechanic who works for Charles Hurst Toyota in Belfast and he told me that this is quite common with the E12 Corolla.

Others on this forum before have had this problem....There is a problem with these seats ....

Anybody any similar problems or any views on this seat problem.....

I am going to upload photos later mybe ...

SNAP i too have this problem with my passenger seat, its so anoying when you have passengers in the back and they try and get out. hope this same thing doesnt happen with my drivers seat too, especially as i have a baby on the way, getting the baby in and out of his seat will be a nightmare. for that price you could probly get a pair of nice sports seats, similar to the look of the CTR , now that would look nice !

I had the same issue with my old prefacelift colour collection! Mr T wouldn't replace the seat under warranty as i hadnt seviced my car on the 10k mark and for that i got the blame! But i just sold it back to the garage and got a 5 door SR

Yes I service my own car...and am in the same boat..Toyota charged me for a new sump plug on a service once.....I checked and it was the old dirty one still on the car...they done some bodywork for me one time and left parts of the interior covered in over spray. The local toyota dealer here was on the news for charging people for work that wasnt done at all....gangsters ....Im stuck between a rock and a hard place.....

I got the passenger seat fixed before but its broke again...looks like im gona fix both seat now and its a nightmare getting the part you need to fix separated from the seat frame

The Mecanical Engineer that fixed the seat before told me that the pins that broke are not near adequate or strong enough for the purpose.....and the design of the seat limits you welding on stronger thicker ones.....

Here we go again........F-K--G DISASTER
