I'll be entering class F of the Toyota Sprint Series again this year in the Aygo. The pressure is on because there is also a TRD Vitz entered which looks like it might be quite quick :o

So we must have a look about making the Aygo a bit faster---mainly weight loss is my target but there are some suspension tweaks on the way too.

The car weighs 820kg with about five out of six bars showing on the fuel gauge. From that start, we have reduced the weight by 60kg as follows:

Rear seat and parcel shelf: -15.2kg

Rear seat belts and trim: -3.8kg

Spare wheel, tools and plastic deck: -15.1kg

Some fuel: -13kg

Corbeau kevlar / GRP seats: -13kg.

With the seats fitted, I can now remove another trim panel where the rear doors would be on the five-door car, so that might lose another kilo or so.

I am pleased with the seats. Went for Corbeau like Joe did with the Banzai car---light and comfortable, and also much lower than stock for that sports car feeling :D

Track Developments have come up with a plan for stiffening the rear torsion bar to help with the roll, but unfortunately they were snowed in last weekend so couldn't fit it. Let you know when that gets done.

spotted another couple of ounces you can save. :P

the plastic trim round the handbrake - couple of bolts holding it down. undo bolts and just slide it off. :)

Unfortunately the rules say no removing trim around the driver unless you fit a cage and harnesses. Unfortunately the cage is 45kg, so still thinking about that.

What about the plastic trim at the back and the carpet behind the drivers seat ?

Also could you replace the rear pop-out windows with perspex ?

Should be lighter than the glass.

Could go really mad and remove the rubbers from around the door seals ?

What the hell, it's an Aygo the doors leak anyways...

Maybe also ensure the windscreen washer reservoir is empty? Thats got to save about 4kg. Perhaps also improve the aerodynamics of the the area under the spare wheel well, move the Battery to the rear and remove/replace the wing mirrors with smaller ones. Also drop the kids off before you race ;)

Yep, all good ideas. Must check the washer fluid! I always race with the wing mirrors folded in :D

Mine don't leak :D

But I will remove the trim behind the driver.

Bit more weight saving, remove rear wiper motor, stereo, speakers, rear hatch strut and all bulbs that aren't used while racing.
