What Are The Thigs To Look Out For On A Mr2

Nothing really specific to these cars that you'd not need to look out for on any other car of a similar age...

T-top check for leaks, check for rust around the rear arches, and under the spare/behind the radiator, look down the engine and check the small braces each side underneath and see if they are rusted out.

Make sure the clutch is good as its a PITA to change if its not!

Also, make sure that the transmission is good. 1990 - 1992 mr2's have synchro problems, especially in 3rd gear.... they wear faster then other models. Get some good boost in 1st and 2nd gear, then when you shift to third if it clicks or doesnt go in smooth, not good.

Pretty much all MR2s will have worn synchros at some point .. alter your driving and It'll not bother you at all.

Changing the tranny oil can help too.

If you think the Mr2 boxes are bad try driving a manual M3 from cold... Double declutch and rev matchingtastic!
