Sterio Head Unit

Picked up the RAV4 today and was pleasantly pleased with the performance. I had expected it to be a little sluggish not being aerodynamically styled. However, disappointed the pathetic radio cassette player don't work. Obviously and being an electrical engineer first things first 'Check the Fuse'.

It was dark when getting the car home, can anyone advise me where I can find the fuse? 2000 Rav4 GX

Come the weekend when I have time the unit will be removed, I have a decent mp3 unit that can replace it. Do you need any special pins or whatever to remove the original?

I would also like to fit a cover over the spare wheel anyone know of a good place to purchase one? Being open it looks like a shopping list for any opportunist scumbag

Can't remember wether we established what model you have, 4.1 or 4.2. If its the 4.1 i can't help you much.

Bothwell Buyer is the expert on that model. If it's the 4.2, there should if I remember be 4 screws visible around

the trim for your stereo. Remove them and the trim and it gives access to the bolts holding the stereo in the dash.

Re the wheel cover, there are plenty online places or E-Bay to get one, here's one I've used -

I changed my radio some time ago..

position of the fuse - gosh - can't remember!! You have one fuse box in engine compartment; then another down at the passenger footwell left side....and then theres some at the lower dash of the drivers side.

The radio swap is easy and I think the radio fascia comes off with 2 screws. You can access the back easily by removing 2 screws to take off the glove box bit as well.

Think the fuse is a 15amp.

You don't need any special pins. If you do then a crowbar might fit.

The aerodynamics coefficient I read for the RAV is 0.38 whatever that means.

On my 1/4 mile sprints, most people are gobsmacked at my 0-60' launch time of 2 seconds altho the terminal speed is still only 93mph. At the lower speeds, the aerodynamics will not have much effect.
