Hello guys, I have recently joined this forum, I got a problem with my car which i dont know yet, it went for the MOT on 28th January 2009, at my local Nationwide Centre, car had no fault and was passed but the Mot tester warned me that the brake paddle creeps in when you press it, so it does need attention, i asked him whats the problem, he told me they need to run the diagnostics on it to check what the problem is the charges will be about £70-80 per hr. I am just wondering any advice or help from senior members on this matter.

Toyota Avensis

D4D T3-X

2.0 Diesel

54 Reg/ First Registered 12 jan 2005

Mileage 105k

I always get the car serviced on time from Toyota dealers or Nationwide. Once again thanks for your help.

Hi

I guess you mean the peddle rather than the paddle. If the brake peddle is sinking down when held you either have a leak in the brake system which should be evident from the drop in fluid level, If no leak can be traced and the fluid level is not moving then the seals in the master cylinder probably need replacing.

Maybe it's one of those amphibious cars, revband.

Sorry guys, couldn't resist.

Diesel avensis brake pedals do drop slightly if you keep it pressed when engine is running. This is completely normal.

Mart.

My 2007 Avensis does the exact same thing. Did it from new, and I think it's due to the vacuum pump system not having a reservoir.

The pedal actually sinks quite a bit, feels like it may hit the bottom.. But it doesn't.
