Ive been looking throught the forum and noticed that the Aygo is very easy to break into, within seconds and not leaving a scratch. Kinda worrrying to me seeing as theres always scroats !Removed! over peoples cars here. Weve had numerous cars "keyed" tyres slashed etc...

Anyways i also read that on the aygo key, if you press the lock button once, it locks it, twice and it deadlocks it. Is this true? I never knew this lol

No dead locks on the Aygo  Sit inside your car and press the lock button twice, you will still be able to open the door from the inside.

One of the reasons why I wouldn’t buy one, an alternative would be to fit some kind of security film on the windows in the event of an attempted break in. The Aygo ticks so many boxes, but fails on simple things. You pay your money and take your choice.

Doesn't the aygo have an immoboliser(sp)?

Posted

It does have an immobiliser - cars costing 10 times as much are just as easy to get into. Fact is more cars are stolen with the keys now than ever before. If you have the keys any locks are useless.

Anyone capable of lifting a brick can get into most cars. It's driving it away that is difficult. That said I think an alarm linked to the doors is a good idea

Or simply fit a dummy red flashing LED. I think its really effective in newer cars because no-one expects the owner to be so cheap.

In the UK, 80% of stolen cars are a result of a house burglary, where the keys were stolen

Prevention is better than a cure :)

Agreed. The amount of time I've spent lecturing my parents about leaving their car keys on a shelf next to the front door...

I always keep mine in a drawer in the bedroom.

From what I remember reading the Aygo is a doddle to get into but very difficult to get going so just don't keep anything valuable in it.
