Cant The T Sport Be Turbo'd ?

i am not a machanic so i know nowt about this kind of stuff, so i was wondering, why do people only talk about supercharging thier cars and not putting a turbo on it, cant it be done, is there no gains from it. i was just wondering as there are alot of turbo's on cars compared to superchargers.

im slightly jealous at the mo my mate just got a vxr nurburgring 255bhp, he thinks it has had a chip and re-map to 290ish, its quick as ubik and sounds mint, most cars with a good turbo seem to get good chips and substancial gains from a re-map.

what gains would a t sport get from a re-map, after a few seaches on here it sounds like a difficult task to make it happen.

i would appreciate any info as i dont know much bout the technical stuff.

cheers.

its bar far easier to supercharge the car due to the fact TTE and Blitz both manufacture and supply a bolt on kit for the car.

turboing realistically would require lower compression pistons, custom exhaust manifold, a turbo of some description, some custom exhaust work, lots of pipework, ecu shinanigans..... expensive you might think.

So It was my big plan ti use the turbo in my tsport. My problem is the get the grip with the car, cause i use the car a lot of in track days as you know form my videos so if i put the turbo on the car from the corners i cannot come with on the good way, cause about the bigger boast. If the boast comes my wheels are spinn i think. The other thing is i don't want to build the engine. That costs 4000-4500 euros to put the turbo on it.We have a guy in hungary who has the c2power.com and he built this corolla as you will see in the youtube. And You can buy a turbo for the car cheaper, but i don't really know that brand.Heres the turbo for the car:

This is for turbo with 2zzge it's built up GÁspÁr Kovács:

Yes you can there is a Turbo that can be imported from the states for the 2ZZ-GE engine that will add 100bhp ;)

Can be done and ordered, however ordering, fitting, tuning, etc etc etc will give you 100bhp...but add 2 more 0s at the end of 100bhp and thats roughly the cost.......lol.

I'm looking into a big project with my Corolla. I'm not satisfied with the bolt on stuff (filter and backbox). As mentioned by ricc, your best start would be the installation of lower compression pistions, as our setup is already a at a pretty high compression ratio, forgive me if i'm wrong but it's either 12.3 or 13.0:1 as standard. Don't get me wrong you can still boost stock compression but it would be best to keep it low (6psi-ish). I've been hovering around monkeywrenchracing.com and I've noticed they do a hell of alot of parts for the 2zz engine, they also do a stroker kit for our engine which utilizes a 1zz crankshaft and high cc pistons to give around abouts 2000cc. I am seriously considering going down this route but opting for the shorter lower compression pistons (I think they are 9.0:1) to progress the project into the turbo route. The good thing I've noticed about MWR.com is they will do all the work for you, even to the point of building a full new engine for you, so even if you don't want to DIY you can still get the performance. I'll be doing it myself when I'm on weekends at work :P . I'll be getting in touch with them soon in respect to their delivery times and compatability with our model. If they don't do straight bolt on's then not to worry, the workaround will be a good challenge :)

Most mods for the CTS cost quite a bit!

It's springs next on my list... as well as a service... and new tyres... i'm gonna be skint! :(

It would make more sense IMO to do what Fensport did and put a Celica GT4 engine in the CTS instead of trying to upgrade the original lump.

True... but then it's not really T Sport anymore.

There is a Jap CTS that has been Twin Charged :D

Again true, however once most of the driveline has been replaced and the characteristics of the car changed i.e bottom end torque, it wont be a CTS anyway
