It is located in the centre console arm rest. There is a cigarette lighter socket and a 2.5mm jack socket. Doesn't give control over iPod menu though, just provides a set of Speakers for it.

not sure but there maybe a different lead availiable as the connector on the rear of the socket has 6 pins, a few too many for just audio.

This would be excellent news if it gives you the iPod menu on screen. Have been looking around for a simple remote for my iPod since I got the car, as at the minute the stereo just acts as a set of powered Speakers!!

Where can I find out about this because in January when I went to enquire about the 2009 Avensis at my dealers, I knew more about the car than they did!!!

ill try and see what i can find out at work. would be odd not to provide support as the ipod isnt exactly easily accessable in the centre console to change tracks etc.

Toyota have several upgrades available for the audio system as fitted to the 2009 Avensis, it appears your dealers staff must have been asleep at the recent training ( late Jan ) that the majority of us had to attend in Nottingham where Toyota showed all tech / accessories aveailable for both the IQ & Avensis all in all it was two solid days of training.

Try here for a list of accesories available for Toyota.

http://www.techdoc.toyota-europe.com/Aim.aspx?menuitem=3

Once site has loaded

click on "Repair" tab

from drop down menu select " accesory installation manaul "

click red " search AIM"

select Avensis from vehicle tab

then T27 ( your Avensis ) under kata extract

then click " search" tab

Wait a moment & you should see a list of over 200 items

I'm still none the wiser!!

I have the Navigation System fitted already. There is no iPod connection, it is only a jack socket. Is there some kind of adapter I can use to give me full functionality over the iPod through the audio system?

Just guessing but if you want to control the iPod you will need something like an ICElink from the rear of the head unit.

Bad design Mr T. A speaker jack is neither use nor ornament and it must surely be the most unsafe option to put in the car. If you want to see the iPod you have to mess about with docks and leads and even then take your eyes way off the road.
