"How can a car that is very light and has hardly any bhp be wearing it's tyres out after only 15 000 miles ?"

Ours Contis are down to 4mm at just 8,000 miles and I tend to change at 3mm. Lots of town work and manouvering is killing them so I'll be looking at a harder compound tyre next time.

How can a car that is very light and has hardly any bhp be wearing it's tyres out after only 15 000 miles ? This is the 3rd time I have read about this happening. Something funny going on.

I think the pads are crap and wearing out quickly and so damaging the discs between services. Everything just seems so soft.

It's my MMT gearbox and clutch I worry about .. it is nowhere as near as good as the one in my old Yaris.

Andy

I have had two sets now at 30k and Mr T did comment how much people are going through them on the Aygo

Wow Sj and Dave, I am amazed. Aren't they advertised Econo tyres, high mpg ? Seems you might get that but then you have to keep replacing them. I replaced mine with sports tyres from Yokohama and they have done 11000 miles with loads left. And Yokohama's are not renowned for being long lasting.

Perhaps try a Michelin and also I wonder if going up to 165 or 175 would help also from the narrow 155 ? Good luck guys. I'd expect 30 000 miles from a gently driven car of the Aygo type.

Like Jan, my brakes really grumble. The pads are still ok and is the disc but they feel soft. I love driving the Aygo but I do worry whether the bits are up to me and my mechanically unsympathetic driving style.

Think I know my problem!!

Well I dont have much to compare to as only ever owned Aygos but I think things like brake disc just dont seem to be of the quality you would expect them to be!

Yeah Mr T tried to tell me my pads were 70% worn on a visual inspection at 7,000 miles.... I told them in the nicest possible way to eff off and if they were that worn then it was not down to general wear and tear.... they quickly retracted their statement and said "A visual inspection is only a guess and the 1 year service showed us they were not as worn as we thought"

I have a fairly good tool for comparison - I had a Yaris for 3 years & 22,000 miles and never had to change tyres or pads/discs in that time so my view is that the Aygo should be similar....
