you're wrong - it's chain driven.

Petrol engines are chain driven and i believe the require inspection or replacement at around 100,000 miles?

Don't know about inspection, but the shoudn't need replacement at all. Belts on the other hand need replacement every 60.000 miles. aprox. to be on the safe side

Hello

I ve been told by MrT's mechanic - that the chain dies with the engine.

The only tension adjusting is required.
