Pickup Valve Cover Gaskets-a Diy Project

Both valve cover gaskets on 1990 Pickup with 3.0 V6 engine are leaking oil. I took it to a local independent garage to have them replaced. They recommended that I take it to a Toyota dealer. They seemed to think it would be an all-day job.

There is a whole lot of stuff on top of the engine that would have to be removed to get to the valve covers. Is this a DIY project or should I take it to a dealer?

What would a dealer charge?
