No point is showing pics of uprated Speakers etc, because they are behind std grilles.

Yo people.....

My Platinum has 2 Speakers in the dash, 2 tweeters & 2 woofers. I've tested the system & unless you take the volume up, it doesn't have a real big effect. Can you guys confirm if the volume goes up to 100? If i were you i would begin with an aux amplifier b4 u change the Speakers, then move from there.

My "uprating" consists of two parts:

A proper subwoofer underneath the passenger seat:

And an aftermarket radio that can properly drive the OEM Speakers balanced with the subwoofer:

The radio has internal HighPass and LowPass filters, allowing me to strip the signals going to the

OEM 4" Speakers of any bass. Without bass these actually sound pretty good and the bass that they

couldn't produce anyway is now produces by the subwoofer, which in turn only gets the lower frequencies.

The EOM Speakers can handle 13W RMS according to their specs and my new radio outputs

4x45W PMPO, which is about 13 to 15W RMS, so the speakers now sound like they should.

I've had this system in my car for over a year now and I regularly "pump up the volume", which I also did

with my previous aftermarket radio with the same subwoofer and the OEM's still live, so they CAN handle it...

IMHO installing "bigger" speakers with the factory radio is a waste of money;

what good are big speakers if the radio can't even give them a proper signal???

The OE radio only outputs 4x7W maximum according to the service manual...

You can fit same size Speakers of a better quality, ie Kenwood plastic coated cone versions are only about £10 each and make a massive improvement in clarity if not volume. Under seat sub is my next plan. Plus need to do something about where the rears mount, putting loud Speakers onto 3mm thick wobbly plastic (3 door) does not a hi-fi make.

What the aygo lacks is bass and you aren't gonna get any improvements by changing the 4" or 5" Speakers. The best thing to do is either get some Speakers 6" or bigger or a propper subwoofer. I think fitting a sub or speaker under the seat is a great idea since its not ideal to take up half the boot with a sub.

Ive decided I want to replace the 2 woofers in the passenger and driver doors. Im guessing they are 6.5"?

Do i need to take the door panel off to replace them? How easy is this done?

Yes you have to remove the side interior pannels to get to the Speakers. Its not that difficult, i am in the process of changing my 2 rear door Speakers. You just need to unscrew 3 screws and then you gently pull the whole piece of plastic off. I don't think that 6" speekers would fit though since my 5" ones fit almost exact. Just remember to check properly that everthing fits before you cut/drill anything from the interior plastic.
