4.3 Side Step Bargain ?

Does anybody know what the quality of WINBO products are like? I am thinking of side steps as advertised on eBay item number 180326920025 at £149 the price is certainly atractive. Also anybody any thoughts on item 250358852180 which are MAXX side steps at £99.99 (normal price £179) but have holes drilled in the wrong place on the mounting brackets but can seemingly be easily corrected.

First set seem to be sold.

I suspect that the MAXX set are originally for the longer US RAV4 version - hence hole alignment incorrect. The bracket arrangement is completely differen to the OEM system which is a single rail unit made from 2" angle with spurs off it to attach the steps.

I bet they would be a bu**er to keep polished but look very sharp in new condition.

I did consider these myself but was fortunate enough to find an original Toyota set being sold on eBay for £95. I now have a spare, single OEM step for sale [don't ask!!]

Have you looked at these? Item # 200224585475 - useless photo but might be worth contacting them for a description. There were some that looked very similar to OEM version with the addition of a light at each end but they don't seem to be available at present.

When I had my 4.2 I fitted Winbo bar type side steps, see photos. IF I remember rightly, got them from Direct4X4.

Pretty easy to fit, looked good apart from the black plastic steps which would have looked better if inset more into

the bar instead of sitting on top. One downside, there are three mountings per side, on the drivers side I think it was

I had to omit one as as the hole in the floor was right next to a brake pipe.

Thanks for your reply, I think I will save up some more pennies and keep looking for genuine Toyota.
