As lots of people know the roads in Malta are quite bumpy in some places and driving around in the aygo at speeds of 70km/h those bumps are felt all around the car.

Could anyone who has put lowering springs on their citybug tell me if the ride feels much stiffer or is there no major difference and has anyone tried changing the springs themselves?

Also i guess the Apex springs would be the ones to go for right?

I went for the Toyota TTE springs and yes you do find the ride a bit harsher.

Thanks paul. I guess i'll go check the tte springs but i'm thinking they're gonna be expensive from the dealer in Malta since they quoted a rev counter for the aygo at around 400 euro and a 50cm long wire connecting to the abs system was 90 euro.

I have an Aygo sports pack (Tacho/Rev counter/tailpipe trim/mats) for sale at £185 at the moment, although shipping maybe expensive, we can do TTE springs too

Kingo

how much would just the tachometer with the plastic casing of the speedometer cost me. Those shouldn't be to expensive to ship i guess.

Well that's a shame, but at least with dealer-fit Toyota parts you get to keep your warranty. Insurance company didn't raise premiums either.

Personally I wouldn't fit lowering springs to cheapish car like Aygo. All those cheapish plastic interior bits may start rattling or rattle louder if yours rattles already :P

As Paul will agree ( I hope), The benefits to the handling make it worth while. No extra rattles on mine,- only real rattle I had was when I had some bits not car related in the boot and forgot to put some padding between them.

End of the day each to their own and that is what makes all our cars slightly more individual.

Being a fatty and having out of spec wheels and tyres on it I find the standard springs at the very limit when it comes to wheel clearance on a bumpy road with anybody in the back, or when I am driving off kerbs etc.

Also, if it makes the ride any more harsh I don't think the trade off of lower c of g and less roll will offset the annoyance of the ride. Already I get out of the Aygo and into our bog standard Astra estate and realise how cheap and cheerful the suspension on the Aygo is. The Astra glides over speed humps like a roller in comparison.

If I had to spend money it would be getting the steering a lot quicker and more direct I think. Don't know of any places who do that sort of tweak though.

Andy

Yes but which would you prefer on a B road for a fun drive? :D

I thought that initially, but it's more a question of getting the front to be a bit more pointy and turn in better which you can do with some suspension tweaking.
