Avensis Purchase Advice

Hi All,

I have been lurking on here for a while and was hoping i could get some advice on an Avensis I am purchasing. I am pretty new to car purchasing, in fact, I am a total green horn when it comes to bartering for a deal.

The car I am looking at is around the 9k mark and i was wondering, considering the economic climate with cars not shifting at all, how this would effect the used car market?

How much could i feasibly get off the forecourt ticket price, if at all?

Thanks for your time

I work within the motor trade and i'm afraid there isn't a worse time to buy a USED car, now before you doubt me let me explain.........

New car sales are down, both private and company users are staying in cars longer, with the lack of new car sales the steady flow of used trade in's is strangled meaning less used stock available, and into this that dealers are reporting that used sales are picking up but they can't get stock to meet demand, one sales manager i spoke to visited 3 auctions in one week and reported it they were the worst buying trips he could remember, hardy any desirable stock and what there was went for silly prices, i'm getting reports like that from all over the UK. Had i not been pushed into buying my car in the last week due to a failing Primera i'd have waited until i could have got a better deal.

Feel free to haggle, but don't be suprised if they don't offer much and don't be expecting them to be desperate.
