What's With The Air Distortion/vibration

Recommended Posts

Posted

When I took the dealers demo car out for the day I noticed that when you are stationery and put a window down you get an awful air distortion effect going on, so much so that I couldn't tolerate it and put the window up.

But, if you put the other window down a bit the distortion/buffering is gone.

Took delivery of my 07 Black and it does the same thing.

Anyone else getting this ? Is there any cure.

It's almost like an air pressure thing going on.

When stationary?

Had an old Ford Capri and when the sunroof was open (when driving) it would cause a vacuum in the car to the extent your ears would pop! It did say in the manual that the ventilation controls should be open to let air back in

yep when the car is stood still idling.

pop down a window and the air pressure/vacuum/whateveryouwant to call it is there. Put the window up and its gone. drop the other window and its gone.

And if you run down the OTHER window INSTEAD?

Yep happens with the other window too.

It's almost like the engine is vibrating on idle and in turn is creating this air distortion effect.

ok, this is definitely an idle based issue.

If I raise the revs when sat still the vibration/distortion goes, but I do need to take the revs up much higher.

As soon as the revs drop to idle the vibration is back.

Anyone else noticed this ? Like I said, not just my car, the 08 Platinum I took out did this also.
