If ur going for a gen 6 celica u may touch the roof im 6'3 and i fit fine but i remember clarkson test drove the gt4 and he had to squeeze in a touch im sure the video is on youtube where he compared it against the cosworth, maybe worth a look

Hi jlock & welcome to this excellent & friendly forum

I, like yourself am not quite 'sveldt' - I'm 6' 3" & 18 Stone

I've just purchased a Gen 7 GT and I fit comfortably

Admittedly, driver door entry & exit can be a little tight, but this is true for most Coupes

(Don't park too close to anybody else in car parks......)

And I have to duck/bow my head slightly to avoid the roof bar when getting in

But once inside, I can drive for hours with no discomfort - plenty of driver/passenger legroom

The rear seats are surprisingly 'deep', which compensates slightly for the narrow legroom behind the front seats

(Headroom may be a problem for you on the back seats, I just 'brush' the headliner)

I can't comment on previous Celica Gens, as I never sat in one before my own treasured GT

So, I heartily recommend any Gen 7

Go for it mate, you won't regret it if you get a good one

Highest Regards & Best Of Luck

Felfy

Footnote - Additional Information

Forgot to mention that the suspension in the GT is very, very hard, but it's fabulous on bends & islands & goes exactly where you point it

Cheers for the input guys, yeah that vid is pretty funny, nice to see clarksons dress sense hasnt changed over the years though!.

I would probably be looking at a 2004-2005 model, i think i might pop along tomorrow and see how i fit afterall then, just didnt want to make the whole trip a waste of time!

If they've got one in WR Davies then it may be worth popping down there being as you're in that general area. I was pleased with their service. However they don't seem to hold that much stock.

Hi jlock

That's terrible news that a Celica is too small for you, you have my sympathies

With regards to 'what car next?', how about a Mazda RX8?

Not too sure about leg/headroom though, but when it was reviewed by Top Gear a couple of years ago, they raved about it

(Plus it's a 4 door & a good-looker)

Just a suggestion

Best Wishes

Felfy

Id love one but i cant afford to insure on one because sadly im only 19.

Desperate for a new car now iv had my polo for 2 years and im getting rather bored of it now :)

The celica seemed the best option because it looks stylish and more than twice the power of the polo, and to be honest the rest of the options seemed a bit boring compared to it but nevermind, it obviously wasnt meant to be :(

Do not get an rx8, my mate has got one got to put oil in all the time, replace seals time at 60k, crap mileage, they arent too great even he said my celica was miles more fun and hes a stubborn git. Trying to think what is out there for a tallish guy, civic type r, integra?

Preludes are nice... what about a civic coupe they are nippy for a 1.5 and quite rare, how old are you? Starlet gt? nissan pulsar? 200sx?

dude. get a volvo 850 turbo. if you can get the T5R, grab it. these cars have BALLS, and headspace. I just bought one. I'm 6'4" 220 lb and it's the most comfortable car I've owned. the fact that I emasculated a mustang driver two nights ago from a red light is the icing on the cake.
