Low Oil And Knocking Noise (help)

Hi,

I need your help.

I keep filling up my oil and its running low really fast. Within a month.

Once I fill back up the knocking noise when I excelerate goes. I have been told this good be the head gasket?

Any ideas anybody?

Souinds like big ends knocking due to low oil. Do you see smoke from the exhaust. The oil must be going somewhere. If it's burning alot of oil you are going to need an engine rebuild.

Agreed I'd strongly suspect the big end bearings are on the way out. If you keep on driving it and this is the case there's a good chance the piston will make a bid for freedom and smash the block apart.

There's a guy called Fazzer hangs about here sometimes who fixes them and has had some good write-ups. Could try and see if he can help

sounds bad buddy get it checked out could be head gasket check for oil in the water. if she is pumpin out black smoke could be

the rings yr oil might be burning off.

Oh dear thats not good :-(

There's not been lots of smoke coming out from the back and I cant smell anything bad. It only makes the noise when the oil is low but as I mentioned I keep having to put more in.

Since Jan I've put in a small bottle of oil and a large bottle (5ltr?)...that cant be right surely.

This sounds expenisve.....oh poo!

Perfect excuse to get a GT-Four

Get down to your local garage and ask them to confirm before you start shelling out on a new engine. Can you see if you have an oil leak or oil mebbe be dripping on to a section of the exhaust.

Sooner or later.......(mebbe) you will try to accelerate and it just wont happen.....bottom end could be shot.

is it older than 2002 mate? Ring Toyota and see if you're covered under their extended 7 year warranty.
