Toyota Avensis Verso Stereo Removal

Just taken over this car.

It's an 2002 Toyota Avensis Verso automatic. Goes well but need to replace the stereo with an aftermarket one as the

old stereo is playing up and doesn't make much noise.

Looking to get some idea as to how to remove the old unit without breaking anything! Will get a single DIN fascia

but want to remove the old stuff as carefully as possible.

Can someone start me off? Have included a picture of the said old fascia as it does seem to be different to others

that have been worked on.

Well I thought I'd answered my own question but can I get the top most box out. Can I heck. Has anyone

actually done this and how much brute force and ignorance does it take or is there something else to

do first. Also noticed that the lights behind the rear heated window switches have gone so will need to replace

them as well. Weher do you get them?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Did you get this sorted.....I'm having a nightmare. I have a similar problem. Mine is 2002 estate, slightly different fascia to yours. I want to get a new 1 Din unit so I need a replacement fascia that will hold this. Halfords cant get one....Toyota dealers have been, frankly, unhelpful. Head Office are 'coming back to me'......I cant believe it's causing such a problem.

If you have any luck with yours, can you let me know.....cheers Paul......I'd post an image but i cant see how to do it.
