Blown Fuse , Ciggy Socket

I blew this fuse wiring in my satnav, the Mr T replacement fuse is around £3, aftermarket fuses about 40p however the toyota ones are shorter in height

which means if you use an aftermarket fuse you cannot get the plastic lid on the fusebox, So swap the aftermarket fuse with one of the oem fuses under the bonnet where height doesn't matter, hope that make sense :unsure:

I am surprised that the Sat Nav has blown this fuse, I run a Tom Tom and a speed camera unit from the same socket in the centre arm rest compartment. I did once blow a fuse on another car, while using a tyre inflator, and since then have been very careful as to what I link into these sockets.

Just to clarify, i was hardwiring my sat nav using the wires at the back of that socket as a convenient feed, I very clumsily touched a live wire against a metal body part which blew the fuse.. :thumbsup:

Thanks for your clarification Local Hero; I was about to separate my electrics into separate power outputs. Good job you were playing in the car and not the house !!!!!!

Are the lighter socket and the power outlet next to the handbrake on different fuses? The lighter socket doesn't work but the power outlet does :wacko:

Welcome to the club.

Would you mind updating your profile to show which model you have so we can try to answer your question.

I've got the same problem. Ciggy lighter works, power outlet on centre console doesn't.

You should get together with coffee addict as his is the reverse - compare fuses, or even swap cars if thats a better faster fix :D

According to this no - there is a cig lighter fuse (15A) and a Power outlet fuse (also 15A) with the console and rear outlets;

I think we are getting a bit confused (NO pun intended) the original question was about the 4.3, the fuse i blew was the one supplying the power point inside the centre armrest which incidently was a 7.5 amp located behind the glovebox in a rectangular plastic box the lid of which is labeled, but now we have two 4.2 owners who appear to have in-op ciggy lighters, so now I'm con(fused)..

Its your age young man.

I answered the 4.3 question first and now the 4.2 question.

Best of both worlds!!!
