I recently took ownership of a brand new Aygo Platinum, and so far so great!

I have an iPod Nano 3rd gen and a 35mil-35mil 1.5 meter generic cable (good quality, works in other places). When using it with the AUX input on the standard stereo, I have to have the iPod volume on max and the stereo on about 40 (I have it on 15 to 20 for radio/CDs).

Is this normal? Or is something wrong?

I searched Google and this forum, but I can't see anyone else having this problem.

Yeah its a common problem, you can buy aux amplifiers but im not sure about them.

I also own an ipod so what ive done is turn the volume of the ipod up to max on itunes. (select all songs, right click, get info, options) and on there youll find volume ajustments. :)

The 35mm connectors often cause volume problems.

Can the iPod change it's socket function from earphone to line?

If so try switching it over.

But sooner or later you will just have to give up and get a replacement headunit that will actually control the iPon itself for you, it's a much tidier option.

With iPod you will get a better sound by using a cable that connects to the usb dock connector, there are some of those available at eBay. With the headphones connection you will need to max out the volume, so no problems with your iPod or Aygo!

One solution would be Harman Kardon Drive + Play which is quite cheap on eBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=230296657480 don't know about fitting it though but it comes with separate display and control unit.

The ipod dock to 3.5 lead gives much better sound and won't need the volume up so loud.

Make sure that your iPod supports those cables first, though. Because of the new connector on mine those cables don't work with my iPod Touch 2G.

Also, iPods have their volume notoriously low- just do a search for iPod Volume Cap or similar and you'll see what I mean.

You're using a headphone output level. It's not ideal for an aux-in socket.

What you need is a iPod dock connector to Line Out adaptor. All iPod docks (AFAIK) have this built in, but there are some other companies who make versions.

You'll get better quality sound as well as not having to turn up the amp volume so much.

Get yourself one of these cables:

Can be found on eBay for very little, do a search on [ipod dock jack] and you'll find a bunch, starting at about £1,50
