1.3 Yaris Auto Sputtering When Overtaking

Hi All,

My wife has a 1.3 Yaris Auto and loves it but recently when she has had to overtake slwer traffic she finds that the car starts to sptter when asked to increase its speed quickly. she is kind worried about this as she taught it was about to cutout while overtaking at one stage. Has anybody experienced this or know what could cause it.

what reg and service history, and milage

Its a 00 with 48000 miles on the clock, service history is pretty non existent as her sister who owned it previously just brought it to a local mechanic.

if it was my car, and toyota main dealers are not my flavour of the month, get it serviced by the main dealer, and inform them off the problem,

I will do that, I was thinking along those lines anyway just wanted to check and see if anyone has had this problem before.

sounds like it could be a clogged injector. Also, have you had the airfilter replaced since new?

The Air filter was replaced at its last service.

when was the last time you had the spark plugs replaced, i once had a 2002 yaris that always spluttered when cold,i changed the plugs and that cured the problem, but i used a brand of plug other than toyota

Ya sounds like a plug problem,4 year change on the yaris but have known then to break down before this,normally 2 or 3 sharp jerks whilst under acceleration .

Will change the spark plugs because that is exactly what happens. :D
