Great Drive/route + New Pics

Hi all Gen 7 drivers

It's not all Tweaking, Cleaning, Maintainence & Garage work you know.....

You can enjoy yourself sometimes

Fabulous dry, clear weather for an early spring drive

So......

Just got back from a steady-(ish) 2 hour drive in our GT around Malvern & surrounding Worcestershire countryside

Here's the Route (My Full Routeguide In Google Maps - beginning & ending at Powick near Worcester)

Stopped a couple of times, noteably

B - Malvern

D - A nice West Malvern viewpoint (Note - some parts of West Malvern are very congested with steep & narrow roads - not good for a Celica's light & fragile clutch)

E - Hayslad Spring

H - Eastnor Castle

K - Hanley Swan

Thoroughly recommended - especially the last stretch between Westhill "G" to Powick "N" - nice combination of fast sweeping bends & tight undulating twisty bits

Best fun I've had in ages

Couple of new pics too

These were taken at the West Malvern viewpoint at "D"

Great Drives & Routes

Possible new Forum Section?

(Or is there one in existence & I've just missed it)?

Go on, give this route a try & post your pics

Nice one mate! Glad you've given your car a good drive out.

Have been planning to take mine on some good roads, but not yet got round to it. Will be taking mine into north wales next week with my midlands based car club www.funkyautos.co.uk. There are some fantastic roads out that way toward snowdonia etc.

Have driven round worcester and the surrounding area quite a few times, and will bear your route in mind for one of our future runs. It has some fantastic roads and great for working the celica to it's potential.

My only current issue with mine is the road noise, I do think it's pretty excessive at times. That's something I hope to sort though.

Happy motoring! Oh and they really are a great car aren't they? B)

Couldn't agree with you more sj

(I can call you, 'sj', can't I)?

(If not, it's 'sjrainsford', as always)

The 'road-noise' can be annoying/distracting at times - certainly on Motorways

But, as you know, the Celica is a 'driver's' car

Treat the noise as an extra 'sense'....

Some cars/vehicles are designed for extreme softness, quietness & comfort......

The Celica is designed for.....

Eerrrrrmmmm........

Eerrrrrmmmm........

In one word.........

Driving........

And in Our VVTL-i engined T-Sports & GT's, above 6,250 revs, the car's designed for

Eerrrrrmmmm........

Eerrrrrmmmm........

In one word.........

Driving!!!!!!!!

(The only differences are the exclamation marks + 50 Bhp)!!!!!!!!

I like to hear what my vehicle is doing outside of the 'cotton-wool cockpit cocoon'

(I drive with my window at least 10% open, regardless of the vehicle & how cold the temperature is - & yes, I drive commercial vehicles as a profession)

I'd rather be slightly cold than profoundly deaf..........

The road noise in my Celica GT is relatively very loud..... & I love it!

Conclusion - it's telling me in no uncertain terms how it's feeling, what it's doing & where it's going....

(& I'm not argueing....... except when I'm using opposite lock on a slightly wet corner)

Come on, Celica, talk to me......

I'm all ears........

Best Wishes & Advice

I found the road noise is dependant on the road surface, there is some really quiet tarmac around Derby/Notts (the A52 for example in places.. the same places where its coming up in chunks lol).

Have you managed to ground the front bumper on any inclines yet? I've managed it on a couple of drive ways!

I haven't 'grounded out 'on anything, (yet), which has surprised me, considering how low the GT is

It must be clearing the Speed-Bumps by millimetres

I'll have to be a bit more careful when my tyre tread's worn down a little
