New Verso Soon!

Hi, we're getting a brand new corolla verso sr d4d in 9 days - can't wait.

Anyway, should I expect scored front disks anytime in the near future as it seems common? also are there any other things I should do/look out for?

Also thinking of getting a dvd player, what would you reccomend? was thinking of the headrest type but not to keen on all the wires.

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

We've got some great little DVD players from Acoustic Solutions. They were about £60 last time I bought one. They are an all-in-one unit. The screen flips down to load the DVD (not like a laptop-style DVd player)

There's a velcro strap which loops around the headrest and an elastic safety strap which also loops loosely over the headrest should the velcro fail for whatever reason.

Been using them very regularly for over a year, no issues. And they can be used without the remote controls which is a bonus. I had a Centurion in car DVD player once, it couldn't be used without the remote. What a pain!

Good luck with the new Verso.

I wouldn't start worrying about problems you might have. I didn't have any scored disk issues with my Verso. Only issue so far is a transit driver insisting I get the rear bumper replaced by driving into me.

having a look for these myself - any idea of the model number for the AS DVD players?

Alongside the AS logo, it says ASVM6071.

We got ours from Argos. I don't think they do them any more. But they've been quite reliable, especially considering the application and who's using them! :D

Edit: Found this:

I don't ever undo the velcro. I simply lift it over the top of the headrest. The secondary elastic strap protects against the velco coming undone.

Hope you enjoy you new verso and dont have any problems. I have had my brake pads and discs changed twice now, I hope this is the last time.

With regard to DVD players i have a single Nextbase unit with a slot in dvd and comes with crossover straps similar to rucksack to go around head rest.

check out the following link. They are not particularly cheap but are good quality.

Well, got the new car now. So far I'm pleased with it (only done 30 miles) The only bad thing so far is the quality of the sound from the radio, especially cd's. If i want it loudish (30-35) I have to put the bass to zero or it distorts - would of thought it would be better than that!

Zero means level bass response - i.e. the way the CD's mastering engineer meant the bass to sound. Any more than that is artificially high. Additionally, have you got the ASL turned on and, if so, how is it set? It turns the bass up as you go faster in an attempt to overcome the masking effects of road rumble, but I find it overdoes it and that either "low" or "off" is the best setting.

Of course, if it's megabass you want you'll have to buy an amp and a sub. This is, after all, an OEM system we're talking about, not a custom job. I'm quite satisfied with the system in mine. Just don't expect it to sound like a boom-tube :)

I wasn't expecting subwoofer bass from standard Speakers, but compared to my previous vw touran and vauxhall zafira they are no where near as good quality. I just noticed scoring on my disks today at 49 miles!!! well i think it is, all the disks have a slight groove in the centre of the surface.
