Rav 4 Immobiliser....

Now this isn't your average question, but here goes....

Some friends of our have a holiday home in a neighbouring village to where we live in France. A few months ago they bought a Rav 4 (1995?) and drove it from the UK to leave in their holiday home here for visits. Their Battery died between their last visit and this one, hence last night they removed it and set it on charge. All fine today, but now having reconnected it the immobiliser has kicked in and won't let them start the car. Although they have the immobiliser key is appears not to be working.

Any ideas of a way around this aside from a presumably expensive trip to a Toyota dealer?

Thanks,

Richard

Is it a standard toyota immobilser? The one with a chip in the key or does it have an aftermarket immobiliser? If its a standard toyota one, try all keys to start it. Might have lost the code for the key memory when Battery went flat.

Is the immobiliser in the ignition key, or is it (more likely) a separate fob with buttons???

You don't need a dealer to remove the immobiliser - either la diy job or le job pour la locale garage/auto-electriciane - mais oui ??

Mais........ je traveillie avec mon toolkit a la votre village et habitee pour deu/deux weeks pour tae sort the automobile ???

Is that no puir deid brill?? Can converse in 3 landwauges - Scots, English and French. Might try my hand at Rushing soon?
