Clutch Prices?

Hi, does any one know the bottom/book/real price of a Aygo clutch? (OR what have you paid for one?)

We have been quoted £440 for the clutch its self and then a further £150ish for 3.5hours of labour. (Actually at a Peugeot place - 107)

Currently they are trying to get it done under warranty but if all else fails it would be nice to avoid getting ripped off.

Whilst the fitting price is good - the clutch price is a huge amount. Are they perhaps back to front?

Just found a place online selling the clutch plate for £64.07 and the clutch cover at £99.67 if you need that too, both inc VAT.

Definitely shop around - there is *no* need to pay £590 for a replacement clutch.

£440 sounds alot for clutch. Have you tried getting a few quotes?

No other quotes as of yet, but I will phone around for sure though.

He said the part costs so much because it is a Toyota part whilst a 306/307 clutch kit costs around £150 or so.

They can quote what they like as long as it goes through the warranty, but he says if they pull it out and find its failed due to abuse we have to pay the bill..

And no, the clutch was £440 not the labour!

How come? My clutch has always been high on my car, Toyota have said that if it comes down to wear and tear i will be liable for the labour! However, if they put it down to a faulty clutch then they said they would replace it for free... I dont think im gonna risk the £400 labour bill they have estimated....

official toyota fittings ~ about £170 for a clutch plate and cover..
