Got The New Verso!

Picked up the new (04) Verso today. Quite pleased with it so far, but....

No radio aerial! Have only just noticed. Thought the reception was crap on the way home, it couldn't pick up any RDS stations. Will call the salesman in the morning and find out if they've still got it. Does anyone have any idea how much one would cost? Although I'll be arguing that they should provide one.

From reading the manual it seems that the same audio head unit is used whether or not certain options are fitted. E.g. There is a disc+ and disc- button but no changer? And there is a NAVI button but it doesn't seem to do anything. The model number is W58810. Is there a separate nav unit that needs to be added? How expensive is this?

Yep look on eBay now and then for a TNS300 DVD you can upgrade it by putting in the 310DVD works great , i had him in my Corolla '05

You need: Wiringloom, TNS300 DVD Computer, Tns300 DVD or better TNS310 DVD and a GPS aerial and instal it under the passengerseat

wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a portable sat nav like tomtom or similar, you can use it in other cars then too.

Yes, we've already got a garmin unit we're really happy with. I'd just prefer to have some thing that is fixed permanently in the car. The !Removed! bracket keeps falling off the window! Similarly I'd prefer dvds mounted in the headrests, less mucking about with cables etc. Are they much of a theft magnet? But £300 for a pair.....

Maybe I'll look into this a bit more when funds become available. If that ever happens!! :D

Hmmm that makes me think of something... I normally stick the satnav on the side window, alongside the wing mirror. I like it there as it's close enough to touch if needed but doesn't obscure any forward vision. It's further forward than the steering wheel. (in fact in this car I stick it to the small fixed window at the front of the door, if you can picture where I mean. Would it be in the way of the side airbags there?

my 2007 Avensis has the aerial as wires on the rear side window - I guess it's an anti-theft/vandalism measure as I had to replace the aerial on my last car several times. have you checked to see if yours is similar?

My Garmin GPS sits very neatly in the centre storage box on the dash. The lid provides good shade when it's sunny and you can hide the unit but just unplugging from the lighter socket and closing the storage box lid.

There's a base on the roof, with a threaded hole so I'm assuming there's supposed to be an aerial in there?

fair enough - I used to buy replacements for my Vauxhall from Halfords - they were about a tenner.

Have you checked in the space where the luggage cover is stored? The dealer put mine there when I picked it up - presumably so they could stick it through the car wash.
