What Audio.sat Nav System Do I Have Fitted?

I have recently bought a 2001 Avensis GS VVT-1

No Sat Nav Disk :(

No idea of Radio code

I can buy both a exe file to get the radio code and a disk for the sat nav from e-bay but I have no idea what I have fitted. I have no manuals (except a Haynes) or owners/audio leaflets

Any ideas? The Sat Nav is the type in the boot in a velcro bag

The CD unit looks similar to this:

Hi,

The satnav system you have is a TNS200. While it is ok, you would be better off with a TomTom or Garmin independent system, as the discs are expensive from Mr T at over £120.

There is one on eBay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TNS200-Toyota-Naviga...%3A1|240%3A1318

Being sold for £39.49 inc delivery. A new TomTom One Classic version 3(latest) is about £80 & is up to date. It's your call though.

But bear in mind the disc on eBay is from 2001 & there has been a lot of changes to roads etc since then, which is why TomTom etc would be better. The toyota one does not have a full colour dispay either & you have to look down to check the information. It won't let you change details while traveling, but the others will.

You don't need a radio code for it, as there is not one.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Marama

Totally concur with Marama, Toyota discs are a complete rip-off. If you want a sat-nav, get a TomTom or similar.

Mine is still running it's 2002 era disc and will stay that way unless discs become a reasonable price.

Thanks

I HAVE a TOM TOM but use it for my other car. I just thought it might be usefull to have the disk (I'm actaully watching that one on e-bay plus another cheaper one) as when I come to sell I just know I will be asked if the Sat Nav works!

I got the car for under £700 so not too fussed. My Tom Tom is out of date too!

Interesting it has no radio code? Is that because iits so big they rarely get stolen? I've seen them for sale on e-bay saying that you need to get the code?

I might need to disconnect the Battery you see. As it is I've just had to pay to get a code for the other car which cost me a fiver (cheaper than a new radio) but now I have it I've written in the paperwork (that I don't keep in the car)so next time I take the Battery off I can at least re-set that cars CD player.

I'm also after the manual for the AVENSIS. My fella (we share the cars) keeps putting Radio 7 and the like in. I know it's not rocket science but I would like to have the Stations that I like not HIM  also there seems to be a minefield of LCD displays?

Bearing in mind this is the 'newest' car I've owned I'd like to know what it is I'm looking at, my thinking was if I got the disk and all manuals then if I'm forced to sell it will be handy for another owner.

Thanks for your help - you guys are great.....

As far as I know, they dont have a radio code. Maybe because they are vehicle specific and no good in other models or maybe they are linked in with the onboard security system and wont work in another vehicle. Maybe I should have a read in the manual and then I would know
