I have got the avensis manuals off techdoc.toyota.com but am unable to work out if the engine/gearbox assembly is removed from the top or bottom of the car. If bottom i have a real problem. The mauals says to remove the transmission, engine and crossmember together, but it deosnt say if from top or bottom. BTW, its a 2004 1.8 vvti engine code 1zz. anyone had any experience. Thanks :)

When i've done it i've taken it out of the top. Its a little tight with the manifold still bolted on so if you can, take it off before hand. I also leave the subframe on the car.

thanks so much. Did you take it out with the transmission as well or did you leave the transmission in the car and take the engine out. I was hoping to take out exhaust manifold, transmission and engine together. thanks. :)
