Help Needed

I recently passed my driving test and bought myself a Yaris that was a year and half old.

I am having a few problems when driving on busy roads that require slow driving (around 3/4mph)

When I go into first gear, I tend to ***** forward. even when I have the clutch down. When I go into 2nd gear the car shudders.

Can anyone help me?

Are you going into 1st whilst the car is still moving.

That could be your shudder.

At 3/4 miles an hour you are going to slow for 2nd, hence slight juddering but you are going too fast to drop down into 1st, again hence juddering.

You say that you have just passed your test, with driving experiance that you will gain from this point on you will know how to clutch control better as time goes by.

It does not sound like a problem with the yaris, just being a new driver you need to improve with practice, as with most things in life.

Oh, and great choice for your first car... Do you plan to mod it or keep it standard.

I passed my test 6 weeks ago. A colleague of mine who used my car last week had the same problem, he has been driving for 18 years. :help:

:D I have had a CD/MD changer added to the car (Sony CDXLP680) :D

Mine does the sam, so does me dads bora. Its just the car don't like crawling along, wastes petrol too :) u will find that if u set it going in 1st and take your feet COMPLETLY off all the pedals (cover the break though) it will pull itself forward at about that speed or at least it will in second and just keep running that slowly, but lets face it, who does like going slow anyway :)

So tell us more about your Yaris.

what model, colour.

With the CD/MD do you plan to add a sub.

We have plenty of useful info amoungst us for those who want to mod a Yaris, so if ever have a question just ask.

We are always here to help our fellow Yaris owners

Hope will change the Speakers, it was hard enough getting Halfords to install the player.

The problem with slow driving is just really getting me down :crybaby:

When in first have the clutch say half way down, with a little bit of power, I think your juddering could be because you are using too much power then taking it off and back on again. As my old instructor would say, cars are made for girls so where some thin shoes so you can feel the pedals a bit more. I always have trouble when I get a new pair of trainers :P

So, try wearing some thinner trainers or shoes and riding the clutch when travelling at that speed. You will soon get used to it mate
