Door Weatherstrip Photo?

Has anyone got a photo of an Aygo with the extra weatherstrip fitted to the doors?

I'm a bit worried if they are fitted it'll look a bit naff and flag the car up as a leaker when I come to part with it.

I didn't know that there are extra weatherstrip available.

What do you mean with the extra weatherstrips?

It is an additional self adhesive rubber or foam strip that some people have added in addition to the regular door self. Its like a draught excluder. If you fit this after market seal and it is too big, you may increase the distance between the door and the frame and cause a leak.

The redesigned Toyota seal does work. If you add another seal you won't be able to make a warranty claim if you spring a leak

A self adhesive foam strip just like a bit of draught excluder, across the top of the door frame, is exactly what Toyota fitted to my car! Yes they look naff and unprofessional.....its too dark for a photo at the moment!

Didn't stop the leaks either.

The additional seal is something that's being added by Toyota dealers to "problem" cars.

As for the "redesigned" toyota seal I'd like to see some proof that this is anything more than BS the dealers are telling customers. The sales manager assured me that all new cars were coming with an updated seal (he said they'd switched to using the Peugeot seal) and the known leaking problem was fixed for some time when I got my 08 plate. A few months later when they replaced the leaking seal on my car they said the new one was a "modified" seal. The 58 plate Aygo platinum that parks a few spaces from me at work also has leaking door seals according to it's owner so 58 plate cars still had leaking problems.

The door seal was originally not glued into place and had a fibreglass re-inforcement that was deformable only once. As a result, some seals rotated or were previously crushed out of shape and leaks ensued. The new seals have meticulous fitting instructions and sort the problem out nicely when fitted right

What date did the new seals become standard?

Well, not all Aygos leak so I guess they used up their stock in th factory first. I think I remember the new seal service bulletin being published early 2008

Thats nice to hear because my daughter's Aygo leaks at both rear doors and also the driver's door :ffs:

She has the car booked in for the remedial work and they intend to replace her carpets as well

I feel she may be compelled to replace her car sometime soon if the new doors strips don't work  :(
