Word to the wise ormi.

Some of the mods around here are really hot on the size of poster's signatures.

i was only going to ask him due to the fact he has and loves working on 4x4 and has done for many many years and we have had no issues with damaged diffs etc so i was going to ask if he ever has had any diffs/gearboxes give up the ghost. but as said i know audi 4x4 systems hate the rbt as do the golf 4x4 and almost everything permanant 4x4.i was mainly pointing out that things weren't as bad as what was being posted.

Fair enough Ormi

Before you edited your signature, the huge text gave the impression that you felt you knew more than non Toyota staff.

All I would say is, don't shoot the messenger. All I have done is to bring Toyota's own warnings to the attention of the club members. The 4.2s are permanent 4X4 and the same warning exists. I will post them tomorrrow so you can draw your own conclusions.

I have attached the warnings that are in the manual. Some of the risk involves the vehicle trying to climb out of the rollers and crushing somebody but the rest is for the welfare of the system.

It only applies to the 4.3. Nothing will happen other than it will still run as normal but the VSC won't work.

But does disabling the vsc on a 4.3 disable the 4x4 from locking up? I'm pretty sure it will.

And I thought the VSC was to stop you going sideways, or back end fliping out?

Edit: just read the begining of this topic  that's why I stay out of dealerships

Audi and vw use a haldex system NOT perminent 4x4 unless your quoting vechiles from the 80s

I've no idea how my mot station tests the ravs brakes as they only have 2 rollers

He probably takes it down the road, then stamps on them, same with the golf and freelander I presume.....I will have to ask them next time I'm in
