Having had my T180 for over a month now & having done circa 1500 miles, I havn`t yet heard the engine go into its cleaning mode where fuel if squirted into the exhaust system & to burn off all the crap in the particulate filter.

Roughly how often does this happen & can you hear it happening ?

I'm not sure how frequent it is i would also like to know that.

But i do know that you have to be going fast enough, e.g. > 35mph and greater than 1.6k rpm for it to kick in (maybe more).

You may also notice larger amounts of greyish smoke coming out the back. For example, my journey every day starts with 15mins of town driving. Then when i get out of town on a-roads i get to an uphill climb, the engine is warm by then and i often get the re-gen kick in then as i'm going roughly 45mph and 3k RPM uphill. Lasts about 5, maybe 10 seconds.

The frequency will depend upon the type of driving the car has done. Lots of stop start in town motoring will create different soot build up to long motorway cruising. I think the trigger is related to how clogged up the filter thinks it is.
