Hi Folks

I am new to your forum but would very much appreciate some assistance.

My beloved 1991 celica convertible developed a burning rubber smell last time I used it., there were no warning lights on, and it did not appear to be overheating. I tried it this morning and its as dead as a dodo.

Has anyone else had any problems like this, or suggest a possible solution?

I would be grateful for any suggestions

Thanks

Liz

Do you mean dead as in no Battery power to turn engine. If alternator has siezed it might have burned fanbelt and left you with flat Battery.

I mean dead as in no lights on the dash at all.

It may be the Battery is completely dead so hubby has put the Battery on charge, but in the past if I have left a light on, the ignition light would come on and dim when I turned the key.

This time there is nothing at all

Let us know what happens when you put the Battery back on. It sounds like the Battery may have died completely, but you won't know until you've tried to charge it.
