Hi Guys,

I have registered simply to pass my thanks on to the people who contribute to this forum.

Wonder why ? :unsure: .. then read on :lol:

Just over a month ago I had the misfortune of hitting a deer that ran in front of me in the dark. I had no chance of avoiding it and as it “went out” ..so did both my headlights and the front bumper on my Avensis Estate car. I bought new headlight units and repaired the bumper damage myself after a search on the net to see what was involved in replacing the units. It was then I found this forum and spent a bit of time reading through the older posts.

Some of the posts with queries on oil usage for the 1.6 petrol engine attracted my attention because I had often wondered about the volume of oil my car used. It went through 2.5 litres every 1000 miles

To cut a long story short.. it was on here that I read Mr Toyota admit there was a design fault on the engine and had extended the warranty of a new half engine repair to cars under seven year old that had done less than 100,000 miles and had a full service history. My car is seven years old in four weeks time, has done 85000 miles and has a full service history. This week Mister Toyota has agreed without a quibble to honour the warranty repair after monitoring the oil usage over the last 1000 miles.

If I hadn’t hit the deer..I would never have found this forum and the advice given about excess oil usage ..and the Toyota extended warranty.

So that’s why I registered..not to ask any questions .. (I had already found the answers by reading) but to post and pass my thanks on to those of you who take the time to help others

Don't know whose posts you have read on the subject of oil burning VVTi engines, mine may have been in there or maybe not but it is nice to hear a word of thanks. Especially so since you didn't actually pose a question.

Glad you have found the forum a big help - just like I did when my 1.8 vvti was burning lots of oil and I got Mr T's to fix the engine for free saving me thousands!!! :D
