My Horn's Gone Funny

The horn on my celica ST202 has changed and now sounds like it's on some kind of bike handlebar. It used to have a nice deep sound to it but now it's all high pitched and weak. I have had a look under the bonnet and it looks like there are two horns and only one of these is working. Is it mean to be both of them working or only one.

Can anyone help, much appreciated.

It was probably two tone and now it's one tone. You can sometimes bring them back to life with a gentle tap with a hammer. Have you checked the wire is ok.

as above response they sometimes stick

also check horn earth is clean as sometimes its just a poor earth that causes horn to fail.

just take horn off clean all connections terminals and bolt fixings

Easy test on car Battery before refitting

1 wire from earth on Battery to fixing point if no earth wire on horn

1 wire from connection on horn and touch positive on Battery with this wire

(dont drop it when / if it sounds though)

Cheers

Keith

Many thanks for the replies. Took both horns off and cleaned the connections up. The earth is actually the bolt connecting the horn to the chassis. Both horns working and all back to noisy best. I think I managed to annoy most of my neighbours as well in the testing process.

Thanks again.
